“Oh May We Ever Live Up To Our Name….”

Many of us have been subject to (or are currently facing) judicial cases by the in-house court system of the religious leaders. Just because these proceedings are done in secret it doesn’t guarantee the case will remain secret . The mere fact that we are having one is a black mark on our reputation in the Jehovah’s Witness community. We have to deal with the gossip mills often in car groups in the door to door ministry and sometimes outright lies that result in ruining our reputation among our peers and family in the Jehovah’s Witness community. You may find it frustrating trying to explain how damaging these judicial meetings can be emotionally to a Jehovah’s witness (at times an Ex- Jehovah’s Witness)This can be really, really distressing to say the least!

We are taught , some of us from infancy that one name is important and sacred- Jehovah’s. Subsequently our names and reputations are not as important. We unknowingly surrendered our names and reputations to the Jehovah’s witness organization for them to shape and define to others based on our ability to live up to the Organization’s rules and performance standards.

If you have been through the not-so-secret judicial process of the Jehovah’s witnesses, how did you deal with the feelings and emotions that arise after being gossiped about or even slandered afterwards?
